The Challenge

The primary problems we were solving for were focusing on streamlining user interaction, reducing error identification time, eliminating processing hurdles that don't require ADP service contact, minimizing the need to wait until the end of a pay period for payroll data, and simplifying the often manual, time-intensive validation tasks.

The Approach

For this role, the approach was very comprehensive, starting with a triad setup, within an Agile environment. Some of the responsibilities in the world of a payroll and HR enterprise company were pivotal to contribute and improve user experiences, efficiency, and overall success in delivering an intuitive solution

The sections which made up my responsibilities were:

1 | Design Strategy:

  • Formulate a robust design strategy aligning UX efforts with the stakeholders’ mission and vision.

  • Define clear design goals, KPIs, and success criteria to measure the impact of UX initiatives.

  • Prioritize design projects based on their potential to address critical user pain points or drive business growth.

2 | Prototyping:

  • Create hi-fidelity prototypes to map out the structure and layout of payroll solution.

  • Develop interactive prototypes to visualize user flows and validate design concepts with stakeholders.

  • Iterate on design iterations based on leadership’s goals and usability testing.

3 | Accessibility and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all designs adhere to accessibility standards and compliance regulations, making them inclusive for users with disabilities, and to align with legal regulations.

  • Conduct regular accessibility audits and testing to identify and address potential barriers.

4 | Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Foster tight-knit collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, quality assurance, and stakeholders.

  • Maintain open communication channels to ensure that design solutions align with business objectives and technical feasibility.

5 | Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

- Uphold design documentation, encompassing trends and patterns of established user flows.

- Disseminate knowledge and best practices throughout the design and development teams, nurturing a culture of design excellence.

The Research

Gathering insights from HR professionals and current users to understand their needs, pain points and preferences was a crucial aspect of the role. Through methods such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing, we uncover valuable data which guides the creation of user-centric payroll solutions.

Understanding how to organize and process the research data into actionable and impactful solutions was also a key aspect of the research process

The Refinement

Worked on improving and building well-designed user flows. By mapping out user journeys, we identified bottlenecks and pain points, allowing for the streamlining of problem solving and iteration.

The Result

With ADP the results of my work was streamlined, user-centric payroll solutions which aimed to simplify complex processes, enhance efficiency, and elevate the overall user experience, contributing to the company's mission of empowering businesses through innovative technology. Here is a cross section of some of that work:
